The luxury and sophistication of the century’s old art of Moroccan Zellige are what is at the heart of our Zellige ceramic collection. Zellige tiles are traditionally handcrafted with non-refined natural clay, extracted from the Fez region of Morocco. The clay is then kneaded with water, molded by hand, and fired in a kiln after drying naturally. After being fired, multiple semi-transparent shades of glass enamel are placed on top before being fired in a kiln for the second time. Zellige is characterized by the variations of tone, shine, flatness, and transparency of the glazing, as well as the stunning surface texture. Each piece of Zellige tile is unique and guaranteed to be a showstopper.
